Dear Wineries, Vineyards & Partners,
After yesterday's email announcing Gov. Inslee's new restrictions on tasting rooms, many wineries inquired about legal delivery options. We have received clarification that wine delivery from a winery directly to a home is permitted.
In order to be compliant to deliver wine directly to a home, submit this form to heidi.braley@lcb.wa.gov. If you self-distribute, you likely already have this form filed with the WSLCB so it’s worth double checking before sending in a new one.
Here are some general guidelines to follow when making an at-home delivery:
- Deliveries must be made in compliance with RCW 66.24.170.
- Check ID before handing the wine over to the customer to confirm they are 21+
- Do not give wine to a person who appears intoxicated.
- Record the transaction via signature - or whatever way is most convenient - to prove if needed that the transaction took place.
You may have received an email from the WSLCB yesterday afternoon with some direction that may not be clear, and they are planning to send out a clarifying email later today. The Washington Wine Institute has spoken to the WSLCB and confirmed that the information we sent out yesterday is indeed correct:
Effective today wineries and tasting rooms must be closed for in-person tastings and events. Wine to-go sales, pick-ups from wineries/tasting rooms and deliveries are permitted. Production and wholesale activities are also still allowed.
Here is a chart from Gov. Inslee's office to break out the restrictions:

If you have any questions, please respond to this email or reach out directly to us.
Thank you,
Your Washington Wine Team
